Hebrew for Christians
The Easy Learn Hebrew program is based on the
original Hebrew teaching methods developed by Rabbi Lampert, that have enjoyed
outstanding success in the classroom environment for over 50 years. Hebrew for

These same methods have now been made available

Hebrew for
Christians
Hebrew is a language that is available to everyone
from all walks of life, however people of the Christian faith often refer to
Hebrew as Hebrew for Christians. This is an interesting concept, because the
Hebrew that other faiths read and the Hebrew for Christians, it is really the
same Hebrew.
However, many Christians have a deep interest in
reading the Bible in the original text, namely, the Torah. Furthermore, some
Christian academics will pursue other Hebrew texts such as the N’vi’im
(Prophets) and K’tu’vim (Writings) and perhaps even the siddur (prayerbook)
that is used for the Jewish Sabbath and festivals.
As mentioned earlier, Hebrew for Christians exists
because it provides the reader the ability to understand the original text,
rather than through the translator’s opinion of the original text. Biblical
Hebrew is also known as lashon hakodesh (the holy tongue), as tradition has it,
they are the words that God spoke to Moses when God gave Moses the Torah.
Apparently, Hebrew was also used by the prophets.
I have taught many Christian students who are
extremely keen to start learning Hebrew for Christians simply because they want
to connect to the language. Hebrew4christians
As way of starting the connection, I say that my
name is Hebrew and it is found in the Book of Judges, chapter 4. Immediately
this creates a closer connection between teacher and student. Invariably they
say they will look up the story. This disclosure of where my name is found has
a purpose. It starts the conversation about Hebrew names, what consonants and
vowels are being used, other origins of Hebrew names. My rationale is to make
Hebrew as interesting and as personable as possible, allowing the student to
relate to Hebrew for Christians on a personal, micro level, prior to engaging
in the more complex text of the Torah, Prophets and Writings.
